CEM Validates Bauxite-Free Smelter-Grade Alumina Process, Launches PFS

Calgary, AB – September 10, 2026 -- Canadian Energy Metals Corp. (CEM) has validated a proof of concept for producing smelter-grade alumina (SGA) from a non-bauxite resource, and has formally launched a prefeasibility study (PFS) for its Thor project in northeastern Saskatchewan, near Tisdale.

CEM's boehmite conversion process matches Bayer-process alumina purity

Testing on boehmite derived from precursors linked to high-purity alumina (HPA) and chemical-grade alumina (CGA) consistently produced samples matching the purity and technical characteristics of SGA made via the Bayer process, the current industry standard for bauxite refining. SGA is the primary feedstock for metallic aluminum production.

news aktuell Launches Voices, Germany's First Video-Statement PR Tool

Hamburg – September 10, 2026 -- dpa subsidiary news aktuell has launched "voices by na-connect," the first tool on the German communications market that feeds original video statements from executives and experts directly into the news cycle. The product went live today and will be presented at the Kommunikationskongress in Berlin on September 17-18.

Executives and experts record 60-second video statements to react to trending topics

The platform works by publishing "hooks" — short, attention-grabbing prompts on current debates — through news aktuell and select media partners. Registered users, called "voices," select a hook, film a vertical smartphone video of up to 60 seconds, and submit it for review. Once cleared by the news aktuell team, statements are bundled and distributed across multiple channels. CEOs, board members, subject-matter experts, communications officers and corporate influencers are the primary target users.

94% of German Firms Show Deep Tech Dependencies, Capgemini Finds

Berlin – September 10, 2026 -- Ninety-three percent of organizations worldwide now discuss digital sovereignty at board level, yet 59% consider full technological independence an unrealistic goal, according to a new Capgemini Research Institute report based on a survey of 1,300 business and technology executives conducted in April 2026.

The report, titled "Digital Sovereignty: From Policy Ambition to Executive Imperative," finds that two-thirds of organizations globally define digital sovereignty as "resilient interdependence" rather than complete self-sufficiency, favoring targeted control over critical technologies and strategic partnerships instead.

Epicyt Pharma's BAFA Cuts Urinary Calcium Loss in Bypass Patients

Gothenburg – – September 10, 2026 -- Epicyt Pharma AB reported positive topline results from a Phase 1/2a first-in-human study of its oral drug candidate BAFA, showing a statistically significant reduction in urinary calcium excretion in patients who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery. The Gothenburg-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company said the trial, completed in March 2026, also recorded improvements in key biomarkers of calcium homeostasis, consistent with enhanced intestinal calcium uptake.

BAFA targets a market of 3.5 million patients across the EU and US

Epicyt estimates that approximately 3.5 million people in the EU and US currently live with impaired calcium homeostasis following bariatric surgery, with roughly 250,000 new patients added annually. RYGB is widely used to treat severe obesity but frequently impairs calcium uptake, raising the risk of secondary hyperparathyroidism, reduced bone density and fractures.

DUH Finds Up to 2.7M German Cars Fitted With Fake Catalytic Converters

Berlin – September 10, 2026 -- German environmental group Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) has accused auto parts retailers and workshop chains of selling substandard replacement catalytic converters that leave up to 2.7 million gasoline vehicles with insufficient exhaust cleaning.

Lab tests find near-zero precious metal coating in five new replacement converters

Laboratory analysis commissioned by DUH on five new aftermarket catalytic converters found precious metal content approaching zero in nearly all units tested, undermining the long-term effectiveness of exhaust cleaning. Citing data from Germany's Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), DUH said the majority of the roughly 300,000 replacement catalytic converters sold annually in Germany are substandard, prompting its conservative estimate of up to 2.7 million affected gasoline vehicles.

Germany's Poultry Demand to Grow 50% by 2040, Study Warns on Import Reliance

Berlin – September 10, 2026 -- Germany's poultry meat market is set to expand by more than 50% in volume by 2040, driven by annual demand growth of 2.1 to 2.5 percent overall and up to 3.4 percent for chicken, according to the Roland Berger Poultry Study 2026 commissioned by the Central Association of the German Poultry Industry (ZDG).

Self-sufficiency could fall from 91% to as low as 73% without new investment

Germany's poultry self-sufficiency rate stands at 91 percent today but risks dropping to between 73 and 77 percent by 2040 if domestic production capacity does not expand, the study finds. The import surplus has already grown more than eightfold, from 55,000 tonnes in 2014 to 462,000 tonnes in 2025. Chicken accounts for 82 percent of poultry imports, and roughly 60 percent of chicken imports now consist of premium cuts such as breast meat.
