Pompano Beach, Fla. – – September 19, 2026 -- The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to a range of 3.75% to 4.00%, its first increase since 2023, defying President Trump's calls for lower rates.

The move came in response to inflation that picked up again last month. Fed officials also hinted at an additional rate increase before year-end.
