New York – September 17, 2026 -- Whirlpool brand and the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) will stage a free public activation at Pier 17 on Sept. 15, tying the league's Championship Week to a donation program supplying UV Clean Technology laundry towers to NYPD precincts and FDNY firehouses across New York City.
Whirlpool ties product demo to first-responder donation
The "Lacrosse After Dark: Blue Light Edition" event runs 6:30-9:30 p.m. and showcases Whirlpool's Front Load Laundry Tower with UV Clean Technology, a feature the company says reduces bacteria in wash cycles without high heat or harsh chemicals. Beyond the on-site sweepstakes offering fans a chance to win a unit and VIP championship tickets, Whirlpool will donate multiple laundry towers directly to NYPD and FDNY facilities.
Partnership expands from 2023 team sponsorship to multi-league backing
Whirlpool's tie-up with the PLL began in 2023 when the league placed its eight teams in home markets. The brand has since become founding partner of the Maryland Whipsnakes and the Women's Lacrosse League (WLL), following a 2025 Chicago River event that built the first floating turf field on a boat.
Event feeds into nationally televised championship
The Pier 17 activation opens with an NYPD-versus-FDNY matchup, followed by a 7:30 p.m. skills competition featuring PLL and WLL athletes, and closes with a professional showcase game. It precedes the 2026 PLL Championship on Sept. 20 between the Philadelphia Waterdogs and Denver Outlaws, airing nationally on ABC.
"Whirlpool's donation of washers and dryers to precincts and firehouses in NYC will make an impact long after the lights are out," said Paul Rabil, PLL co-founder and president.
