Columbus – – October 12, 2026 -- Vertiv (NYSE: VRT) has acquired Strategic Thermal Labs LLC (STL), a specialist in advanced liquid-cooling technologies, to strengthen its engineering capability where server-side liquid cooling meets supporting infrastructure in AI and high-performance computing environments. Financial terms were not disclosed.
STL adds cold-plate design and high-density thermal validation expertise
STL brings cold-plate design, server-side liquid cooling and high-density thermal validation capabilities. Vertiv expects the expertise to improve its ability to simulate and emulate real high-density compute conditions.
The company also expects to optimize the interaction between the thermal chain and the power train. It plans to support customers across design, integration, commissioning and lifecycle operations.
Vertiv ties the deal to rising compute density
Vertiv said that as compute requirements intensify, the interaction between server-side liquid cooling and supporting infrastructure increasingly shapes system performance. The factors it cited include flow, balance, controls behavior, serviceability and lifecycle reliability.
Scott Armul, Vertiv's chief product and technology officer, said STL has proven capability in addressing demanding chip-level density and thermal problems, which strengthens Vertiv's ability to emulate and validate system-level solutions.
Vertiv keeps its open-ecosystem approach unchanged
Vertiv stated that the acquisition does not alter its commitment to an open ecosystem. It will continue to support interoperable, server- and silicon-agnostic infrastructure solutions across diverse compute environments.
The deal extends Vertiv's thermal-chain strategy and supports its broader push to address infrastructure complexity through integrated power, thermal, controls and lifecycle services.
Integration risks center on customers, suppliers and talent
Vertiv listed transaction-related risks including expected expenses, possible diversion of management time to integration, and its ability to maintain relationships with STL's customers and suppliers. It also cited the need to retain STL's management and key employees.
