Tokyo – September 30, 2026 -- TIER IV, the developer behind the open-source Autoware platform, will begin sales on September 30, 2026, of two new automotive-grade cameras built for commercial-scale Level 4 autonomous driving. The C1-120MP and C2-120MP feature a 120-degree wide-angle lens designed to close peripheral blind spots around autonomous vehicles.
New cameras expand MP series first launched in May 2026
The MP camera series combines proprietary image optimization with flexible camera control and is aimed at scalable autonomous deployment across public transit, logistics, construction, and agricultural operations. The 120-degree field-of-view models are engineered specifically for close-range peripheral sensing, complementing narrow-angle cameras used for long-range detection.
Combined lens strategy cuts total camera count
Pairing wide-angle units for near-field coverage with narrow-angle cameras for distance detection lets integrators design leaner sensor configurations without sacrificing the 360-degree situational awareness required for safe autonomous operation. Fewer cameras reduce data-processing loads and power consumption, factors that directly affect vehicle uptime and hardware cost in commercial autonomous fleets.
Cameras are built for compatibility with Autoware software
The new hardware is designed to integrate with Autoware, TIER IV's open-source autonomous driving software, a compatibility link intended to shorten development cycles and lower engineering costs for companies building Level 4 systems. TIER IV said it will continue expanding the MP camera lineup to support additional configurations and operational environments as it works to accelerate Level 4 deployment.
Sales channels confirmed for launch
The C1-120MP and C2-120MP will be available for purchase through AISAN TECHNOLOGY and Digiflec starting September 30, 2026.
