Lithium Compound Market to Hit $39.74B by 2034 on EV, Battery Demand

Pune – October 05, 2026 -- The global lithium compound market is projected to grow from $9.82 billion in 2025 to $39.74 billion by 2034, a 16.8% compound annual growth rate, according to new analysis from Maximize Market Research.

Battery demand drives roughly 80% of global lithium consumption

Global lithium production reached approximately 130,000 tons in 2025 against consumption of around 134,000 tons, underscoring tight supply-demand balance. Lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide dominate battery-grade applications, while lithium chloride, lithium bromide, lithium metal and butyllithium serve glass, ceramics, lubricants, metallurgy, air treatment and pharmaceutical markets. Stationary battery storage demand is growing at an estimated 40% annually, adding a new layer of consumption beyond electric vehicle batteries.

Clean Power Alliance Launches Zero-Cost Daytime Rate Pilot for 4,000 Homes

Los Angeles – October 01, 2026 -- Clean Power Alliance (CPA) will eliminate generation charges entirely from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for more than 4,000 Southern California households as part of a two-year pilot testing whether zero-cost daytime electricity shifts consumer behavior.

CPA zeroes out generation rates during an eight-hour daily window

Under the Time-Of-Use-SMART (TOU-SMART) pilot, participants will pay $0 per kilowatt-hour for generation during CPA's super-off-peak period, while on-peak charges from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. remain elevated and overnight off-peak rates from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. will rise slightly. CPA estimates customers could save hundreds of dollars annually by shifting activities like EV charging, laundry and HVAC use into daylight hours, with additional savings available to customers enrolled in CPA's EV SmartCharge program.

Dimethyl Carbonate Market to Hit $2.15B by 2034 on EV Battery Demand

Pune, India – – October 01, 2026 -- The global dimethyl carbonate (DMC) market was valued at $1.18 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $2.15 billion by 2034, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 6.9% from 2026, according to a new analysis by Maximize Market Research.

Battery electrolyte demand for DMC outpaces the broader chemical market

The battery electrolyte application segment is forecast to grow at an 8.32% CAGR through 2031, faster than the overall DMC market. Global electric car sales exceeded 17 million units in 2024, while EV battery demand surpassed 950 GWh, up more than 25% from 2023. DMC is blended with other carbonate solvents in lithium-ion electrolyte formulations, and battery manufacturers increasingly require purity levels above 99.9%, tightening specifications on moisture control, impurity management and batch consistency.

Europe's Grid Swings From Negative Prices to €210/MWh as Storage Demand Surges

Munich – – September 30, 2026 -- Germany's day-ahead power prices spiked to around €210/MWh during summer heatwaves this year, levels typically seen only in winter, according to LSEG data cited by Reuters, even as the same market recorded 573 hours of negative wholesale prices in 2025.

Heat and oversupply pushed Europe's power market to opposite extremes within hours

Rising cooling demand collided with reduced nuclear output caused by high river temperatures and low water levels, while weak wind conditions and lower thermal efficiency tightened supply further. Hours later, the same grids faced the reverse problem: too much electricity. The International Energy Agency found negative-price hours accounted for roughly 6% of the year in 2025 across Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands.
