Food Makers Use Just 45% of Data as AI Adoption Nears 90%

MILWAUKEE – October 29, 2026 -- Food and beverage manufacturers effectively use only about 45% of the data they collect, even though nearly 90% already use AI and machine learning or plan to do so soon, according to Rockwell Automation's 2026 State of Smart Manufacturing Report.

Data gaps stall AI projects at the pilot stage

Rockwell (NYSE: ROK) says the 45% data-utilization rate is a significant barrier to scaling AI beyond isolated pilots. Many manufacturers lack connected data, standardized processes and integrated systems, which limits enterprise-wide results.

Greg Schmidt, Vice President, CPG Global Industry at Rockwell, said the question is no longer whether AI delivers value but "how to scale successful pilots across the enterprise."

Only 42% of German CFOs Can Quantify AI Spend, Deloitte Finds

Munich – October 29, 2026 -- Only 17 percent of German CFOs report measurable value from AI initiatives, while 70 percent expect measurable benefits within two years, according to Deloitte's latest CFO Survey. The poll covered more than 120 finance chiefs at large German companies between September 10 and October 2.

Fewer than half of CFOs can put a number on AI spending

Just 42 percent of respondents can currently quantify their AI expenditure. Companies that track costs spend about 0.5 percent of total costs on AI. They plan to double that share to 1 percent next year and hold it there long term.

Efficiency goals dominate, differentiation lags

Efficiency and cost reduction are the top objectives for 83 percent of CFOs. Strategic uses such as innovation or new business fields are tapped far less often. Only 10 percent of companies have exhausted AI's potential for competitive differentiation.

Genedata Launches Platform-Native ELN for Biopharma R&D

Basel – October 29, 2026 -- Genedata, a Danaher company, launched an electronic lab notebook (ELN) built natively into its biopharma R&D software platform, replacing standalone notebook tools with a single scientific record spanning discovery and development.

Genedata embeds the ELN in its existing platform data model

The ELN links directly to molecules, samples, process parameters, and assay and analytics results already managed in the platform. This cuts manual data transfers and inconsistencies between applications. It supports workflows for biologics and complex modalities including ADCs, bispecifics, cell and gene therapies, and peptides.

Experiment documentation stays tied to a candidate's full development history. That history runs from design and molecular biology through screening, engineering, expression, purification, and analytics to upstream and downstream process development, formulation, and analytical development.
