Monterey – October 29, 2026 -- LanguageLine's AI Translation App has received an Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, a status that may open contract opportunities outside the traditional competitive bid process with a membership base representing about $156 billion in annual purchasing volume.
Vizient provider groups recommended the app after in-depth evaluations
LanguageLine showed the app at the Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange in Las Vegas on September 24. Vizient provider groups then ran in-depth evaluations and recommended it for the designation, citing its potential to deliver value and drive innovation across healthcare organizations.
Under the Innovative Technology Program, experts on Vizient's client-led councils assess selected products for their ability to improve clinical care, enhance patient and workforce safety, and strengthen operational performance.
The app targets written communication with patients who have limited English proficiency
The secure, AI-powered platform lets healthcare staff translate documents, forms, discharge instructions and educational materials. LanguageLine says the tool is meant to improve patient understanding, widen access to information and streamline multilingual communication workflows.
LanguageLine President and CEO Simon Yoxon-Grant said healthcare organizations serving increasingly diverse communities need "practical tools that help them communicate at scale without sacrificing quality or security."
Designation may bypass competitive bidding for a $156 billion purchasing base
Vizient's membership includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health systems and non-acute care providers. Products recognized as innovative may be eligible for contract opportunities outside the traditional competitive bid process, giving vendors a potentially faster route to those buyers.
LanguageLine supports 17 of America's 20 Best Hospitals for 2026, according to the company.
