Genedata Launches Platform-Native ELN for Biopharma R&D

Basel – October 29, 2026 -- Genedata, a Danaher company, launched an electronic lab notebook (ELN) built natively into its biopharma R&D software platform, replacing standalone notebook tools with a single scientific record spanning discovery and development.

Genedata embeds the ELN in its existing platform data model

The ELN links directly to molecules, samples, process parameters, and assay and analytics results already managed in the platform. This cuts manual data transfers and inconsistencies between applications. It supports workflows for biologics and complex modalities including ADCs, bispecifics, cell and gene therapies, and peptides.

Experiment documentation stays tied to a candidate's full development history. That history runs from design and molecular biology through screening, engineering, expression, purification, and analytics to upstream and downstream process development, formulation, and analytical development.

Integrated LIMS coordinates tasks across CROs and CDMOs

The ELN connects experiments to sample identities, properties, lineage, and physical locations. Integrated LIMS and laboratory workflow execution capabilities coordinate requests and tasks across internal laboratories, centralized facilities, CROs, and CDMOs. Links to laboratory and IT systems, instruments, and robotics further reduce manual data handling.

Genedata targets AI-ready data without system-integration costs

ELN, LIMS, sample management, registration, and laboratory workflow execution now sit together on one platform, which Genedata says provides built-in data integrity. The company says the unified environment supports data science, predictive modeling, automation, and AI initiatives without the cost and complexity of connecting fragmented systems. It also says historical work is easier to revisit and project handovers are simpler.

Genedata President Othmar Pfannes said traditional ELNs operate independently and fragment knowledge as biologics pipelines grow more complex. He said the company is "fundamentally rethinking what an ELN should be in the age of AI."
