Sherwin-Williams Issues Colormix 2027 Wood Finish Forecast

Cleveland – October 19, 2026 -- Sherwin-Williams Industrial Wood has released Industrial Wood Colormix® 2027, a forecast that sorts emerging wood color, stain and finish directions into three collections: Revive, Reignite and Reconnect.

The Industrial Wood DesignHouse developed the forecast. It targets manufacturers, designers, architects and specifiers, and is meant to translate broader lifestyle trends into finish solutions they can apply.

Research from the Greensboro DesignHouse underpins the three collections

The trends draw on ongoing research by the Sherwin-Williams DesignHouse in Greensboro, North Carolina. The team studies cultural shifts, consumer behavior, architectural trends and material influences to identify design directions for the wood finishing industry.

According to Maggie O'Hare, Sherwin-Williams Industrial Wood Sr. Marketing Manager, Color & Design, the 2027 theme is human connection, with each collection aimed at spaces that resonate personally with users.

Revive draws on heritage with walnut-inspired hues and timeworn surfaces

Revive, titled "The Past Reimagined," centers on warm wood tones, refined finishes and layered character. Its palette includes rich midtone woods, walnut-inspired hues and timeworn surfaces.

Reignite pairs pale organic stains with bold contrasts

Reignite, "The Present in Motion," combines pale organic stains, chalked wood tones, soft pastels and bold contrasts. Sherwin-Williams describes the direction as expressive and contemporary.

Reconnect targets wellness with deep atmospheric woods and mineral tones

Reconnect, "The Future in Focus," is built around comfort, restoration and emotional well-being. It features deep atmospheric woods, mineral-inspired tones and softened finishes intended to create calming environments.

Sherwin-Williams says the forecast is meant to help customers turn emerging trends into practical products and environments. It identifies wood as a design material that continues to offer warmth, versatility and lasting appeal as consumers seek authentic materials.
