Kindred Hits 500,000 Nights Swapped as Home-Swap Model Scales

San Francisco – September 18, 2026 -- Kindred, the global home-swapping platform, has surpassed 500,000 nights swapped since launching in 2022, a threshold the company says confirms peer-to-peer home exchange has moved beyond niche travel behavior.

Kindred now counts 400,000-plus members across 150-plus cities

The platform reports a member satisfaction score above 9 out of 10 sustained through its recent growth phase. More than 90% of listed homes are members' primary residences rather than investment properties, distinguishing Kindred's model from short-term rental marketplaces and keeping that inventory outside the STR market.

Shoppers Trust AI for Tracking, Not Billing: Sinch Survey

Stockholm – September 17, 2026 -- Only 43% of shoppers believe AI will make their holiday shopping easier this year, down from 48% in 2025, according to new research from Sinch AB (publ) covering 2,501 consumers across eight markets ahead of Black Friday and the holiday season.

Confidence hinges on specific tasks, not AI broadly

While overall optimism about AI declined, confidence surges when AI is assigned a concrete function. 81% of shoppers trust an AI assistant to handle order tracking and shipping updates, and 74% trust it for pre-purchase questions. That confidence drops to 66% for account changes and 62% for payment or billing changes.

LIMRA: 76% of Pre-Retirees Skip or Skimp on Retirement Plans

Windsor, Conn. – September 17, 2026 -- Nearly six in ten pre-retirees (59%) rate themselves highly prepared for retirement, yet 76% have either no written plan or spent fewer than five hours in the past year developing, reviewing, or updating one, according to LIMRA's 2026 Retirement Income Readiness Report.

Confidence outpaces action among workers nearing retirement

The survey found 88% of pre-retirees — defined as workers age 45 and older planning to retire within 10 years — say they have thought about how they'll generate income after leaving the workforce. But half (50%) either lack a written retirement plan or have one they haven't updated recently, exposing a gap between stated confidence and actual planning behavior.

Los Angeles – September 15, 2026 -- Youth financial independence in the United States dropped to 34.9% in 2026 from 41.3% a year earlier, according to the second annual Youth Report released by specialty retailer Pacsun and data and analytics firm GlobalData. The share of young people who say they fully rely on their parents rose to 29.1% from 23.8% over the same period.

The report, based on a June 2026 survey of 6,126 people ages 11 to 24 across the U.S., identifies what Pacsun terms the "Drawbridge Generation" -- Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers who are pulling back from public digital noise toward smaller circles of trusted family and friends.

Influencer trust never exceeds 11% share across any category measured

Family and friends dominate every trust metric tracked, from financial advice to purchase decisions, while influencers top out at an 11% trust share. Only 2% of respondents said they trust AI for fashion advice.

AI Local Business Recommendations Surge to 45% From 6% in 2026

Pasadena, Calif. – September 15, 2026 -- The share of U.S. consumers using AI tools for local business recommendations jumped to 45% in the past 12 months, up from 6% in 2025, according to new research cited by digital marketing agency Cybertegic.

Consumer trust in AI recommendations coexists with heavy verification habits

The data comes from BrightLocal's Local Consumer Review Survey 2026, based on a representative SurveyMonkey panel of 1,002 U.S. adults, with AI-specific findings published March 10, 2026.
