Midea Expands US Research Center Footprint 400% in Louisville

Louisville, Ky. – September 30, 2026 -- Midea America Corp. has opened an expanded Midea America Research Center (MARC) in Louisville, Kentucky, growing the facility's footprint by approximately 400% to 157,000 square feet and adding 22 new laboratories.

Facility adds 127,000 square feet and 22 laboratories to support appliance development

The expansion includes 127,000 square feet of additional space, a product showroom, an auditorium and dedicated collaboration areas. The center brings consumer research, engineering, product development and testing under one roof, supporting Midea's U.S. product lines across refrigeration, dishwashers, cooking, laundry, air treatment, floor care and small appliances.

Center grew from one employee in 2015 to roughly 130 staff today

MARC began operating in Louisville in 2015 with a single team member and has since expanded to approximately 130 employees. Justin Reinke, President of Midea America Corp., said the expansion gives teams more capacity to convert unmet consumer needs into product innovations.

MARC has contributed to three named product launches

The center has supported development of the STRAWash Dishwasher with Total Tumbler Clean, the 50/50 Flex Upright Convertible Freezer, and the OneTouch AutoFill French Door Refrigerator. Adam Schultz, Executive Director of MARC, said the expanded research and testing capabilities position the center to develop future technical talent.

Midea links expansion to university co-op talent pipeline

Midea supports engineering and innovation talent development through university and co-op programs, giving students hands-on experience in research, engineering and product development at the Louisville site.
