Kansas City, Kan. – September 19, 2026 -- KanEquip JCB is opening a new 17,000-square-foot dealership facility in Kansas City after Trane Technologies acquired CSTK (Central States Thermo King) and exited the retail equipment market, leaving a gap in local JCB representation.
KanEquip retains CSTK's experienced JCB sales, parts and service team
CSTK, a family-owned business for roughly 50 years, had expanded into JCB equipment in 2014. Following its acquisition by Trane Technologies, KanEquip recruited the staff who originally built CSTK's JCB operation. "Honestly, I was not interested in opening a JCB location in Kansas City if the employees did not want to continue," said Grant Meinhardt, Vice President and General Manager of KanEquip JCB, adding that the team's willingness to stay drove the company's decision to pursue the territory.
New 4.45-acre site adds nine drive-through service bays
The facility, located at 3550 Fairbanks Ave., Kansas City, KS 66106, spans 4.45 acres and includes nine drive-through service bays capable of handling large machinery such as excavators and wheel loaders. KanEquip currently operates 14 locations across Kansas, five of which have carried the JCB brand since 2019; the company secured JCB USA approval before recruiting the former CSTK team and locking in the permanent site.
Central location targets stadium builds and major rental fleets
Meinhardt said the site's central position in the metro area will support major regional infrastructure and commercial projects, including stadium developments for the Chiefs and Royals. The location is also positioned to serve rental partners United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, Equipment Share and Blue Hat.
Team relocates from Shawnee facility ahead of mid-September opening
The KanEquip JCB team is transitioning from its previous location at 401 Shawnee and plans to be operating at the new Fairbanks Avenue facility in mid-September 2026. Initial operations will focus on shop service while the company builds out a retail customer showroom for parts, equipment sales and JCB merchandise. A formal Grand Opening celebration is planned for spring 2027.
