Charlotte – – October 20, 2026 -- Society Awards and The Explorers Club have launched the inaugural Fine Arts Field Grant, a program that pairs artists with recipients of the TEC Impact Grant for expedition collaborations.

Grant embeds artists with TEC Impact Grant recipients

The program places fine artists alongside researchers and explorers funded through the TEC Impact Grant. Society Awards says the grant targets artists whose work will emerge from access to places, people and discoveries that few will experience firsthand.

Partners tie the program to expedition art history

The partners argue that exploration and art traveled together for most of history. Before photography, artists accompanied expeditions to document discoveries for the public. The Explorers Club holds paintings and sculptures from historic expeditions.
