Beijing – September 10, 2026 -- Chinese commercial vehicle maker FOTON shipped 149,000 units abroad between January and August 2026, a 44.3% increase year-on-year, as the company prepares a major European push at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover on September 14.

The Beijing-based manufacturer has moved from a product-export model to what it calls a systematic globalization strategy spanning technology, manufacturing, supply chains and service networks. FOTON operates 32 local production facilities across Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, with new plants under construction in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
EU type-approval and VECTO certification open access to Europe's premium truck market
Several of FOTON's battery-electric light commercial vehicles and vans have secured EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) and VECTO certification for heavy-duty CO2 emissions, clearing regulatory hurdles for entry into the European premium segment. CAVAN New Energy products, the company's new-energy vehicle brand, are now being rolled out in 15 European countries as well as Australia and New Zealand.
COSCO Shipping joint venture locks in export shipping capacity
FOTON has formed a supply-chain joint venture with COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers to secure dedicated vessel capacity for exports, part of a broader effort to integrate domestic supply-chain partners into its overseas expansion.
Unna parts center anchors 24-hour European service network
A Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Unna, Germany, has begun operations, joining 18 global parts centers, more than 1,200 sales outlets and over 1,500 service points to support round-the-clock parts availability and rapid local customer response across Europe.
Hannover show to mark 13-millionth vehicle delivery and CAVAN BEACON debut
At IAA Transportation on September 14, FOTON will unveil a new Europe strategy, hold a ceremony marking the global delivery of its 13-millionth vehicle, and stage the overseas premiere of the CAVAN BEACON, an intelligent heavy-duty truck compatible with both battery-electric and fuel-cell powertrains. The company will also display seven new-energy vehicle models and six self-developed core components covering common use cases in European transport.
