Pittsburgh – September 20, 2026 -- Energy Corps has named four new grantees to expand access to affordable, modern energy across East and West Africa and Tribal Nations in the United States, targeting sectors from electric cooking to AI-driven energy governance.
DanChurchAid initiative moves 1,000 refugee households to electric cooking in Kenya
DanChurchAid, partnering with Mwangaza Light and Renewvia Energy, will help more than 1,000 households -- roughly 7,500 people -- in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei settlements transition from firewood and charcoal to induction cookers. The project uses pay-as-you-go financing and a discounted daytime electricity tariff to make the switch affordable.
Prosper Global targets 50 enterprises in Senegal's grid expansion
Prosper Global's PROSPER Senegal program will support about 50 women- and youth-led enterprises and producer groups in deploying refrigeration, milling, and irrigation equipment. The initiative leverages new grid access tied to a Millennium Challenge Corporation investment to convert electricity access into higher incomes and job creation.
Tribal Solar Access Initiative cuts household energy costs by up to 90%
Tribal Energy Alternatives will close final capital gaps on shovel-ready, community-led solar projects on Tribal lands in the U.S., providing technical and construction support. Completed installations are projected to reduce participating households' energy costs by 75 to 90 percent.
NP4SE builds AI tools for energy oversight across 25 countries
New Producers for Sustainable Energy will develop two AI-enabled tools: an advisory desk drawing on 14 years of peer expertise, and a greenhouse-gas dashboard integrating satellite data to detect methane leaks. The tools are designed to strengthen energy governance across 25 countries while keeping sensitive data under national control.
