Shanghai Electric targets thermal power decarbonization with hydrogen-blend gas turbines

The High-Efficiency Power & Decarbonization solution covers modular steam turbines for H- and F-class combined-cycle systems, heavy-duty gas turbines capable of running on up to 30% hydrogen blending, and coal-fired power retrofit packages aimed at cutting fuel consumption and lowering carbon intensity in markets such as Indonesia.

Shanghai – September 17, 2026 -- Shanghai Electric posted operating revenue of CNY 63.332 billion (USD 9.17 billion) in the first half of 2026, up 16.6% year-on-year, while net profit attributable to shareholders rose 18.2% to CNY 970 million (USD 140.49 million). New orders reached CNY 100.39 billion (USD 14.54 billion), extending the company's order backlog across energy equipment, industrial equipment and integrated services.

Energy Equipment segment drives growth with 21.4% revenue increase

The Energy Equipment segment generated CNY 36.558 billion (USD 5.29 billion) in revenue, up 21.4%, led by wind power and energy storage. Industrial Equipment revenue rose 1.9% to CNY 18.954 billion (USD 2.75 billion), supported by digital upgrades in machine tools, elevators and industrial components. Integrated Services revenue climbed 31.5% to CNY 10.862 billion (USD 1.57 billion) on supply chain coordination and full-lifecycle service work.

Shanghai – September 16, 2026 -- Shanghai Electric has secured its first overseas heavy-duty gas turbine contract, landing the Unit 3 award for the 500 MW Sarawak Samalaju Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Project in Malaysia.

Shanghai Electric will deliver full EPC turnkey scope plus a 25-year service agreement

The contract covers a complete engineering, procurement and construction turnkey solution for the gas-fired plant, paired with a 25-year long-term service agreement (LTSA) spanning all major equipment. Gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, heat recovery steam generators and air-cooled systems will all be manufactured in-house by Shanghai Electric, which will also act as the sole provider for decades of maintenance and service.
