Basel – October 19, 2026 -- WuXi Biologics will expand annual capacity to approximately 300 IND programs and 20 BLA programs by 2027, as bispecific antibodies and ADCs made up 71% of the 169 projects it added in the first half of 2026. More than two-thirds of those new programs originated in the United States and Europe, the company said at its 3rd annual Basel CRDMO+ Day, held alongside Festival of Biologics Basel 2026, which drew more than 3,000 industry professionals.
The company's portfolio stands at 1,064 integrated projects, including 399 first-in-class programs, 732 global IND clearances and more than 90 market authorizations. More than 100 biotech and pharma leaders attended the Basel session.
Targeted integration platform reaches 70+ projects with 8 g/L average titers
The WuXia TrueSite Targeted Integration platform has been adopted in more than 70 projects. It delivers average clone titers of 8 g/L and near-100% clone stability. WuXi Biologics also reported improved pool-to-clone consistency.
Its clone-derived six-month DNA-to-IND solution, introduced six years ago, uses final production clones rather than pool-derived materials, which reduces future comparability risk. The offering has been applied across 66 accelerated programs, and 6 of those assets have advanced into late-stage and commercial manufacturing.
Microbial platform cuts BLA tech-transfer timelines from 30 to as little as 18 months
WuXi Biologics has expanded beyond mammalian expression into microbial and HEK293 platforms. These support enzymes, cytokines, antibody fragments, nanobodies and recombinant proteins. The microbial platform draws on more than 3,000 fermentation runs across more than 140 molecules, with commercial scale-up reaching 15,000 liters.
The company reported 30%-50% faster development timelines and first-time scale-up success above 95%. Sequence-to-GMP drug substance release takes approximately 9.5 months. Across multiple programs, process optimization, scale-up strategies and raw-material changes cut total costs by approximately 40%-50%.
WuXiHigh 2.0 lifts parallel formulation screening from 8 to 24 and cuts viscosity by up to 90%
The company has supported more than 500 formulation and drug product processes and more than 180 high-concentration biologics programs. More than 130 of those programs reached concentrations up to 240 mg/mL, and more than 30 involved syringe or combination devices.
Ultra-high-concentration approaches now target up to 500 mg/mL for subcutaneous and intramuscular delivery. Hyaluronidase-enabled co-formulation is supported by more than 30 projects.
Global network exceeds 600,000 liters of planned capacity, about half outside China
Planned bioreactor capacity spans Ireland, Germany, Singapore, the United States and China. The company reported a 100% PPQ campaign success rate. It also reported a 98.7% success rate across more than 2,600 drug substance batches and 99.6% across more than 2,670 drug product batches.
WuXi Biologics has completed more than 220 transfer-in projects involving more than 10 host cell lines. Accelerated programs reached GMP drug substance vial thaw in under three months, and more than 10 programs finished in under two months. Several commercial products launched first in China and then in Ireland, with PPQ completion at the second site in as little as one year.
Commercial process optimization delivered titer increases of up to 450%, cost-of-goods reductions of up to 80% and productivity gains of up to 200%. Programs supported by the company have been associated with 140 acquisitions and 42 client IPOs.
PatroLab digital platform targets earlier detection of process drift
WuXi Biologics is connecting data across development, manufacturing, quality and customer collaboration. The PatroLab digital manufacturing platform is designed to increase process visibility and improve scale-up consistency. It is also meant to flag process drift earlier, before variability affects commercial performance.
