San Jose – October 13, 2026 -- Wiwynn, Ayar Labs and Global Unichip Corp. (GUC) are showing the first live demonstration of a compute system that integrates GUC's ASIC with Ayar Labs' TeraPHY optical engine and SuperNova light source while streaming real-time health telemetry, at OCP Global Summit 2026.

Demo moves CPO from rack-level architecture to platform integration and functional validation

The demonstration advances the companies' earlier rack-level architecture collaboration. Wiwynn's system integrates GUC's multi-chip packages (MCPs) with TeraPHY optical engines (OEs), powered by the Ayar Labs SuperNova light source. Telemetry is continuously polled from the OEs inside the MCPs and displayed in real time, showing the optical link is up within the system.

The tuning subsystem tracks thermal and wavelength drift (TX heater activity). Key eye metrics, including eye height, OMA and ER, hold steady alongside OE and ELSFP temperatures, according to the companies.

Wiwynn's ORV3-ready system pairs ELSFP-based light sources with a custom cooling architecture

The system architecture combines GUC's MCP with TeraPHY OEs and ELSFP-based high-power SuperNova light sources in an ORV3-ready compute system. Wiwynn's system-level cooling architecture supports stable optical power under real-world conditions. The demo also shows a detachable FAU and in-chassis fiber routing, which the companies cite as evidence of serviceability and manufacturability at the compute system level.

Executives frame deployability and management at scale as the new bar for CPO

Mark Wade, CEO and co-founder of Ayar Labs, said the question is no longer whether optical connectivity works but whether it can be deployed and managed at scale. He said the telemetry gives data center teams the data they need to adopt CPO with confidence.

Wiwynn President and CEO William Lin said the work is meant to help hyperscalers build higher-bandwidth, more power-efficient and more scalable AI infrastructure.

GUC President Sean Tai said integrating optical I/O directly into chip design lets system requirements enter the chip design phase earlier. He said this shortens the development cycle from silicon innovation to system readiness.

Three companies target high-volume CPO deployment after system-level proof

The companies say CPO has progressed from architectural validation to system-level functional proof. They plan to continue the collaboration to move CPO from validation toward high-volume deployment. The Compute Tray CPO live demonstration runs at the Wiwynn booth at OCP Global Summit 2026.
