Vertiv Launches SmartIT Pre-Engineered AI Rack for NVIDIA Systems

Columbus, Ohio – October 31, 2026 -- Vertiv Holdings Co. (NYSE: VRT) launched SmartIT, a factory-validated AI infrastructure platform that combines rack, power, liquid cooling and monitoring in one pre-engineered design, and made it available globally from day one.

The platform targets enterprises, research institutions and colocation providers. It deploys in existing facilities and new data centers. Vertiv says it also covers commercial spaces and hyperscale environments, in each case without redesign.

SmartIT integrates five infrastructure layers before shipment

The solution combines rack infrastructure, DC power conversion and distribution, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, in-rack cooling distribution and monitoring. Vertiv validates these systems at the factory, which limits on-site commissioning to facility power and cooling connections. The design was previously deployed with NVIDIA to support the NVIDIA DGX GB300 system.

Platform supports four NVIDIA configurations on MGX and OCP ORV3

SmartIT is built on NVIDIA MGX and Open Compute Project ORV3 architectures. It supports NVIDIA GB300 NVL72, Vera Rubin NVL72, DGX Rubin NVL8 and HGX Rubin NVL8 systems. Customers can scale from a single rack to multi-rack deployments within the same architecture.

Vertiv also positions the product around five deployment pain points:

  • Compressed deployment timelines, as factory validation replaces on-site integration.
  • Less multi-vendor coordination, with a single order and one partner across rack, power, cooling and monitoring.
  • AI readiness for brownfield enterprise facilities and Class A commercial buildings without full reconstruction.
  • Repeatable scaling without redesign between phases.
  • Built-in leak detection, automated response and continuous monitoring from rack to site.

Monitoring and controls support Redfish, SNMP and Modbus. Vertiv Global Services handles deployment, commissioning and lifecycle management.

Vertiv ties SmartIT to SmartRun, rPDU and Unify for larger builds

SmartIT can sit within a broader Vertiv architecture. Vertiv SmartRun extends integration across the row, and Vertiv rack power distribution units provide power distribution and monitoring. Vertiv Unify adds integrated monitoring, analytics and controls across power and thermal infrastructure, including coordinated leak response.

"AI is fundamentally changing the demands placed on data center infrastructure," said Scott Armul, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Vertiv, who described SmartIT as a way to bring power, cooling and IT disciplines into one validated architecture.

Vertiv showed a SmartIT unit with an NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 system at NVIDIA GTC Berlin in October. The demo was built to support NVIDIA DGX Rubin NVL8 deployments.
