Vertiv Advances SmartRun Digital Twin in NVIDIA Omniverse DSX

Columbus – October 12, 2026 -- Vertiv (NYSE: VRT) has advanced a production-grade digital twin for its VertivTM SmartRun system, integrated into the NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint, as the first phase of a multi-phase AI factory digital twin roadmap.

Model-based design replaces document-based handoffs across power, cooling and controls

Vertiv says document-based processes and siloed handoffs between power, cooling, controls and deployment teams cannot keep pace as AI deployments scale to higher densities and larger capacities. The SmartRun digital twin captures system configurations and dependencies in a virtual environment, so infrastructure can be designed, simulated and validated as a single system before build-out.

Vertiv expects this to reduce late-stage design changes and integration risk, and to shorten the time from planning to operational readiness.

Vertiv extends the twin approach to OneCore Rubin DSX

Scott Armul, Vertiv's chief product and technology officer, said customers need power, cooling, controls and deployment workflows designed as one interdependent system to deliver more "tokens per second per megawatt." Vertiv is extending the approach to VertivTM OneCore Rubin DSX.

The digital twins are meant to preserve engineering intent from early configuration and simulation through deployment, commissioning, lifecycle assurance and future optimization.

NVIDIA backs gigawatt-scale AI factory twins built on OpenUSD

Vladimir Troy, NVIDIA's vice president of AI Infrastructure, said the Omniverse DSX Blueprint helps the ecosystem build, simulate and optimize gigawatt-scale AI factory digital twins. It uses OpenUSD, SimReady assets, and power, thermal and operational simulations. Adding SmartRun to the workflow can help customers evaluate infrastructure choices earlier and prepare for multiple generations of accelerated computing, he said.

Computex Taipei 2026 demo pairs a physical system with a configurable twin

At Computex Taipei 2026, Vertiv will show SmartRun as both a physical infrastructure system and a configurable digital twin. Attendees can explore configuration scenarios and see how model-based design choices feed downstream planning, coordination and simulation.

The demonstrator was created with Dassault Systèmes model-based systems engineering capabilities on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and connected to NVIDIA Omniverse DSX workflows. Stéphane Sireau, Dassault Systèmes' vice president of high tech industry, said it shows Vertiv's AI factory infrastructure moving from document-based design toward an industrialized, model-based systems engineering approach.
