89% of Hotel Guests Want AI Limited to Background Tasks, Survey Finds

New York – – October 08, 2026 -- A global survey of 3,250 travelers finds 89% want either a hybrid stay blending artificial intelligence and human service or AI confined to background tasks, with almost none favoring an AI-led experience, according to data released by hospitality platform Mews.

Guests reject full automation even for routine tasks

Human staff were preferred over AI at all nine touchpoints tested in the study, including arranging taxis -- the most automatable task surveyed -- where 44% of respondents chose a human versus 28% who chose AI.

The preference for human service intensifies as tasks require judgment or trust: 72% of guests want a human for bar and restaurant service, 66% for front desk welcome, and 58% for check-in and key handover. Room service orders showed the closest split, with 50% preferring a human and 23% opting for AI.

The agreement pairs GDLS's vehicle design and integration expertise with Primordial Labs' Anura platform, a Natural Language Command and Control (NLC2) system. Crews will be able to state objectives and constraints in plain language, and Anura will execute actions by interfacing with onboard subsystems such as sensors, displays, communications and uncrewed systems -- tasks that currently require dedicated operator stations.

Arch Lending Exec Outlines Bitcoin Loan Risks at Three Summits

Sahay lists four questions borrowers must ask before signing a term sheet

At the invite-only Bitcoin Corporate Day in London on September 22, Sahay told corporates, funds and financial institutions to demand answers on four points before accepting a Bitcoin-backed loan: who holds the collateral keys, whether the collateral can be rehypothecated or reused, what specifically triggers a liquidation and whether it is partial or total, and what happens to the Bitcoin if the lender fails. The panel reviewed how institutional Bitcoin-backed credit mechanics have shifted since 2022.
