Stoneridge MirrorEye Enters Kodiak's Autonomous Trucks

Novi – October 29, 2026 -- Stoneridge (NYSE: SRI) has placed its MirrorEye Camera Monitor System in newly deployed trucks running the Kodiak Driver, the autonomous driving system from Kodiak AI (Nasdaq: KDK). The two companies also plan to explore integrating additional Stoneridge technology into Kodiak's platform.

FMCSA exemption lets Kodiak drop conventional mirrors from SensorPods

Kodiak's proprietary SensorPods replace conventional side mirrors on the truck cab. Until now they have carried conventional rear-vision mirrors, as U.S. regulations require for commercial trucks.

Stoneridge's system was the first to receive a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) exemption allowing motor carriers to operate trucks without conventional rear-vision mirrors. The FMCSA renewed the exemption in 2024 for five years.

NTRO Buys 15-Seater Autonomous Bus From TIER IV for Australian Trials

TOKYO – October 29, 2026 -- Australia's National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) has bought a 15-seater electric autonomous bus from Japan's TIER IV, opening demonstrations and in-service trials to transport agencies and operators across Australia and New Zealand.

NTRO and TIER IV build on a 2024 collaboration

The two organizations formalized a strategic collaboration in 2024. It combines NTRO's experience running autonomous vehicle trials in the region with TIER IV's record of autonomous bus deployments in Japan. The vehicle runs on an autonomous driving system developed by TIER IV.

NTRO named the bus Rita after Rita Excell. As executive director of the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative, she partnered with the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB), a precursor of NTRO, on the country's first autonomous vehicle trial with Volvo XC90s in November 2015.

TIER IV Launches Wide-Angle Cameras for Level 4 Autonomy

Tokyo – September 30, 2026 -- TIER IV, the developer behind the open-source Autoware platform, will begin sales on September 30, 2026, of two new automotive-grade cameras built for commercial-scale Level 4 autonomous driving. The C1-120MP and C2-120MP feature a 120-degree wide-angle lens designed to close peripheral blind spots around autonomous vehicles.

New cameras expand MP series first launched in May 2026

The MP camera series combines proprietary image optimization with flexible camera control and is aimed at scalable autonomous deployment across public transit, logistics, construction, and agricultural operations. The 120-degree field-of-view models are engineered specifically for close-range peripheral sensing, complementing narrow-angle cameras used for long-range detection.

CDTL Unveils 900kW E-Drive Axle, EMB Brakes at IAA Transportation 2026

Hannover – September 20, 2026 -- CDTL is presenting a lineup of distributed electric drive axles and electromechanical braking (EMB) systems for heavy-duty commercial vehicles at IAA Transportation 2026, with its flagship platform already deployed across more than 3,000 vehicles.

EA5000NP axle delivers 900 kW peak power on an 800V platform

The EA5000NP distributed electric drive axle uses two oil-cooled motors and a two-speed transmission to enable independent left- and right-wheel torque control without a mechanical differential. Running on an 800V architecture, it produces up to 660 kW rated power and 900 kW peak power, with the underlying platform proven across more than 3,000 vehicles in commercial operation.
