Vienna – October 13, 2026 -- TCL showed its 5G AI CPE X5 at Network X 2026, a home broadband device with a theoretical peak downlink of 7.01 Gbps under 3GPP Release 18 and an agentic AI layer meant to cut operators' operations and maintenance workload.
8Rx antenna design lifts lab downlink throughput by up to 51%
The X5 combines four directional C-band antennas with up to 13 dBi gain and four omnidirectional C-band antennas. In lab testing, this 8Rx architecture delivered up to 51% higher downlink throughput than a 4Rx design. AI analyzes signal quality to help select the antenna configuration for better reception. For indoor Wi-Fi, AI-assisted signal-path selection, congestion detection and channel adjustment aim to keep connections stable.
Closed-loop diagnostics target congestion, module anomalies and parameter drift
The device monitors Wi-Fi, LAN, cellular connectivity and system operation. It detects conditions, diagnoses supported issues, performs recovery actions, verifies results and records outcomes. Supported scenarios include certain congestion conditions, module anomalies, resource overload and parameter drift. Where integration is enabled, cloud management and operator systems link local diagnostics with further assistance, and network health reports give users and support teams visibility.
AI agent turns user requests into network adjustments
Users can state a desired outcome, such as optimizing the network for a gaming session. The agent then coordinates network checks, traffic prioritization, mode switching and compatible-device control for supported tasks. Local AI QoS recognizes supported gaming, streaming and video-call traffic and prioritizes selected latency-sensitive flows when applications share the connection. Adaptive power management changes power modes by usage scenario, and AI-assisted traffic analysis can flag certain unusual access patterns.
TCL outlines operator-customizable AI hub roadmap for the X5
TCL describes an envisioned connected-living AI hub built on on-device computing, a unified AI OS and a Home Computing Center. The architecture would support local multi-agent scheduling and offline execution of supported tasks. Model and skill stores are planned to enable developer deployment, and operators could explore customized AI agents and service packages. Selected capabilities could extend to compatible NAS devices, AI cameras and mesh networking equipment.
The X5 was named a 2026 IFA Innovation Award Honoree. TCL also showed the prplWare-certified LINKHUB HH516 5G FWA CPE, Wi-Fi 8 CPEs and routers, kids' smartwatches and the TCL Tbot desktop companion.
