Little Rock, Ark. – September 17, 2026 -- The Systems Group (TSG), a family-owned steel-industry service provider founded in 1970, has launched Systems Cool Air Solutions, an eighth operating division dedicated exclusively to HVAC work at steel mills and metal-related industrial facilities.
New division targets installations, maintenance and 24/7 emergency response for steel mills
Systems Cool Air Solutions will handle new HVAC installations, preventive maintenance programs and round-the-clock emergency service built for extreme steel mill conditions. Service offerings span control room and motor control center (MCC) climate systems, overhead crane cab HVAC and pressurization, custom ductwork and sheet metal fabrication, ventilation and exhaust systems, building automation and controls, and industrial refrigeration.
Ted Smith and Kyle Elkins take leadership roles at the new unit
Ted Smith, with more than 30 years in industrial HVAC leadership including prior Chief Operating Officer roles at industrial HVAC firms overseeing operations for steel mills across the Southeast, becomes General Manager. Kyle Elkins, a University of Arkansas graduate with a track record in industrial HVAC business development and contract negotiation, joins as Sales Director.
TSG president says the division fills a gap in dedicated industrial HVAC expertise
TSG President Kyle Morgan said customers repeatedly struggled to find HVAC contractors who understand steel mill environments, prompting the new division. "Steel mills are all we do," Morgan said, distinguishing the unit from commercial HVAC firms that occasionally take industrial contracts.
Division joins seven existing TSG units to offer single-source steel mill services
Cool Air Solutions joins TSG's existing divisions -- Spray-Cooled, Plant Services, Clean Air (Industrial Air Filtration), Refractory Solutions, Contracting, Fab & Machine, and Engineering. TSG CEO Lee Morgan said combining HVAC with air filtration, refractory, maintenance, fabrication and construction capabilities allows the company to cover nearly every service need in a steel mill under one master service agreement.
Clean Air's filtration technology creates cross-division project opportunities
Clean Air's SMAC (Self-Maintaining Air Cleaner) industrial filtration projects are expected to pair with HVAC work at the same mill sites, creating cross-division synergies within TSG's operations.
Blytheville, Arkansas office to deploy teams to steel mills nationwide
Systems Cool Air Solutions will operate from TSG's regional office in Blytheville, Arkansas, with service teams deployable to steel mill facilities across the United States. TSG employs approximately 1,000 people and is ranked #227 on ENR's 2025 Top 600 Specialty Contractors List, with its Spray-Cooled equipment installed in more than 100 steel mills across 22 countries.
