SpotSee Pitches QR Indicators as Middle Tier to Data Loggers

Global – – October 20, 2026 -- SpotSee is promoting four battery-free, single-use QR-enabled indicators as a middle tier between traditional visual indicators and data loggers, aimed at receiving teams that need to know whether a threshold was breached rather than see a full journey history.

WarmMark QR and FreezeSafe QR cover opposite temperature risks

WarmMark QR is a time-temperature indicator that tracks cumulative exposure above a specified threshold. It changes color irreversibly once the defined condition is met. FreezeSafe QR gives irreversible visual evidence of exposure below its defined threshold.

A smartphone scan of either indicator creates a digital record. For WarmMark QR, the SpotSee Cloud captures the indicator condition, time, date, location and serial number. No dedicated app or battery is required.

ShockWatch 2 QR and TiltWatch XTR QR extend the model to handling damage

ShockWatch 2 QR is a single-use impact indicator that gives a permanent visual alert when an impact exceeds the selected threshold. A scan records the condition and associated scan information in the SpotSee Cloud. The use case is sensitive industrial equipment, where a receiver must decide whether to inspect before installation.

TiltWatch XTR QR turns red if a shipment tips beyond 80 degrees. Scanning it captures the condition, time, location and serial number at the point of inspection.

Indicators complement data loggers rather than replace them

SpotSee frames shipment monitoring as a spectrum. Visual indicators sit at one end and QR-enabled indicators add a digital record at origin, receipt or other hand-offs. Data loggers provide a detailed condition history, and connected monitoring adds visibility while a shipment is moving.

The company says data loggers remain the better fit where QA or logistics teams must analyze the full condition history, assess excursion duration and timing, or meet regulatory or quality requirements for recorded data throughout the journey. It states that QR-enabled indicators are not a replacement where continuous or interval-based monitoring is required.

A pharmaceutical manufacturer shipping a high-value biologic through a complex international cold chain may need that detailed temperature history, SpotSee notes. An operation that only has to confirm at receipt whether a package crossed a temperature threshold may not.
