SIAL West Asia Guangzhou Draws 1,500 Exhibitors to Bay Area Trade Hub

Guangzhou – September 09, 2026 -- More than 1,500 food and beverage exhibitors from China and abroad gathered at the 2026 SIAL West Asia International Food Exhibition, which opened September 3 at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center Expo and spans 60,000 square meters.

Exhibition positions Guangzhou as gateway between China and ASEAN markets

Co-organized by Comexposium, Beijing Aibo SIAL Exhibition Co., Ltd., Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Group, and Beijing SIAL Exhibition Co., Ltd., the event is branded the "First Stop for Entering the Bay Area and Going Global." It operates as a flagship event under Guangdong province's "Trade Nationwide" and "Trade Global" initiatives, running through September 5 across 14 specialized zones covering imported foods, snacks, dairy, beverages, seasonings, and fresh products.

International pavilions span five continents on opening day

National pavilions from Thailand, Georgia, Jordan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the UAE, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand appeared alongside independent exhibitors from South Korea, the United States, Ecuador, Pakistan, Spain, Japan, and Germany. Thailand showcased tropical dried fruits and low-sugar products, Georgia presented wines and specialty beverages, Jordan featured origin-based agricultural goods, and Vietnam offered on-site tastings of instant noodles.

Buyer-matching program accelerates deals on show floor

An upgraded "Match Me" service used data-driven pre-matching to connect exhibitors with buyers. Vietnam's instant noodles attracted multiple supermarket and e-commerce buyers, Jordan's premium chocolates drew high-end purchasers, and Georgia's wines generated distributor interest. A supermarket purchasing manager said the concentration of international pavilions allowed direct comparison of products and supply chains across regions in a single visit.

Greater Bay Area's 70 million consumers anchor regional trade flow

Organizers cited the Greater Bay Area's consumer base of more than 70 million people, supported by cold-chain and customs infrastructure, as the basis for the region's dual role: an entry point for overseas F&B brands into China and a launchpad for Chinese companies expanding into Southeast Asia. The next edition of the exhibition is scheduled for May 18-20, 2027, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
