Sands China, NBA Cares Close Five-Day Macao Impact Week

Macao – October 11, 2026 -- Sands China and NBA Cares closed their five-day Community Impact Week with a basketball carnival that drew about 200 participants to NBA HOUSE at Cotai Expo, The Venetian Macao, on the final day of the NBA China Games 2026.

Sports figures and Sands executives join the closing carnival

NBA legend Chris Bosh, a Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and two-time NBA champion, attended alongside Sands Global Ambassador Sir David Beckham. Chinese women's national team player Zhang Ziyu and short track speed skating Olympic gold medalist Wang Meng also took part, as did Las Vegas Sands and Sands China executives, Sands Cares Ambassadors and members of Macau Special Olympics.

An NBA coach opened the event with a skills clinic for Macau Special Olympics members. Beckham, who also took part last year, met families from four Macao social service organisations: the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau and The Women's General Association of Macau. Participants received goodie bags assembled by NBA players, company executives and Sands Cares Ambassadors.

Dumont ties community outreach to Macao's economic diversification

Patrick Dumont, chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and chairman of Sands China Ltd., said the week extended the event's reach beyond the arena through Greater Bay Area youth exchanges, a school visit, community engagement activities and the carnival. He said major sporting events should ensure "the benefits of major events are shared across the community."

Dumont said Sands China will keep supporting the Macao SAR Government's policy direction and strengthen the link between tourism and sports. The company aims to contribute to Macao's economic diversification through those efforts.

Programme centred on youth, health and inclusion

The five-day programme focused on youth development, healthy living and community inclusion. Current NBA players and legends visited communities across Macao. The initiative falls under Sands Cares, the global corporate citizenship programme of Sands China's parent company.
