Boston – October 12, 2026 -- Flexcompute has secured strategic investment from Samsung Ventures and Applied Ventures, the venture arm of Applied Materials, to scale its Physics World Model, an AI system that predicts design behavior by learning the laws of physics. The company did not disclose the investment amount, and other investors also participated.
Flexcompute solves a 5-billion-DOF chip package warpage model in minutes
Flexcompute reports that it solved a 5-billion degree-of-freedom warpage model for a full advanced semiconductor package within 2% of commercial finite-element results, in minutes. The package contained more than 800,000 solder joints, an ASIC and 32 optical engines. The company says this is the kind of problem traditional simulation cannot reach.
Tokenized Physics embeds conservation laws in neural networks
A team of more than 70 PhDs built Flexcompute's CFD, electromagnetic, structural and thermal solvers from the ground up on GPUs. Through Tokenized Physics, the company builds both neural networks and first-principles physics into the Physics World Model. Each prediction therefore obeys the same conservation laws as the physical world, and the company says accuracy holds on designs the model has never seen.
Flexcompute contrasts this with AI trained only on past text, images and simulation results.
Applied Materials' AI chief points to faster design validation
Yu Cao, Chief AI Officer of Applied Materials, said Flexcompute's simulation is fast enough to keep pace with AI and rigorous enough for production decisions. In advanced manufacturing, he said, that moves more of the design cycle into the digital domain, saving time and cost. A Samsung Ventures representative said the Physics World Model will shape how next-generation hardware is developed.
Customers query Physics Twins with engineers and AI agents
Customers access the Physics World Model today through Physics Twins, which are models of their own products that engineers and AI agents can question, test and optimize before anything is built. Engineers set the objective and approve the result, while agents run the iterations.
Co-Founder and President Vera Yang described the product as a verification layer between bits and atoms.
Funding targets research hiring, GPU scale and multiphysics expansion
Flexcompute will use the investment to grow its research team, scale GPU compute, and extend the Physics World Model across fluids, electromagnetics, structures, heat and multiphysics couplings. Engineering teams at more than 250 companies across aerospace, automotive, semiconductors, photonics and advanced manufacturing already use its tools.
