Lincoln, Neb. – September 08, 2026 -- Used heavy-duty construction equipment inventory on Sandhills Global's MachineryTrader.com fell 2.56% month-over-month and 10.45% year-over-year in August, with crawler dozers posting the steepest monthly decline at 3.78% and wheel loaders logging the largest annual drop at 11.94%, according to new Sandhills Equipment Value Index (EVI) data.

Construction equipment values edge higher despite falling inventory

Asking values for used heavy-duty construction equipment rose a slight 0.52% M/M but remained down 1.55% Y/Y, while auction values increased 0.31% M/M and fell 1.29% Y/Y. Sandhills noted dealers are reporting slower sales activity and more cautious buyers even as rental demand stays strong.
