Stamford, Conn. – September 30, 2026 -- Philip Morris International's U.S. businesses (PMI U.S.) donated $340,000 to four military relief societies, bringing its cumulative giving to these organizations to $1,220,000. The recipients are Air & Space Forces Aid Society, Army Emergency Relief, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
Only 31 percent of military families say they are getting the support they need right now
PMI U.S. cited new data showing the gap in support as an increasing number of service members are actively engaged in conflicts around the globe, underscoring the case for the funding.
Donations were allocated based on service population scope, program reach and demonstrated need
Air & Space Forces Aid Society will use its share for emergency financial assistance, disaster relief and education programs for Airmen, Guardians and dependents. Army Emergency Relief funding covers housing, utilities, uninsured medical expenses, emergency travel, vehicle repairs, food and scholarships for Soldiers and families. Coast Guard Mutual Assistance will expand interest-free loans, grants, counseling and education support. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society funding backs financial assistance, financial education and resilience resources for Sailors, Marines and retirees.
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society alone supports over 40,000 clients annually with more than $47 million in assistance
In 2025, more than 211,000 active-duty and retired Sailors, Marines and their eligible family members received support through NMCRS programs across 213 global locations. Army Emergency Relief supports more than 30,000 Soldiers and families annually.
"Military families often face financial hardships that arrive without warning, from natural disasters, medical emergencies, and other life-changing events to unexpected relocation expenses," said Marian Salzman, SVP of Corporate Development & Senior Advisor to the U.S. CEO, PMI U.S. The funding follows PMI U.S.'s "pragmatic philanthropy" model, which emphasizes practical, long-term corporate giving partnerships focused on service members, veterans and their families.
