Wiesbaden – – September 30, 2026 -- Panasonic has launched the TOUGHBOOK G3, a rugged tablet delivering a 39% increase in battery life over its predecessor, the G2mk3, targeting field workers in defence, emergency services, utilities, logistics and manufacturing.
New battery architecture offers up to 24 hours of runtime per charge
The G3 introduces a modular battery system with three interchangeable options rated at 8.5, 17 and 24 hours of usage, based on MobileMark 30 benchmark testing. Its top-tier 99Wh battery is the largest capacity unit fitted to any TOUGHBOOK device to date. An optional 'bridge' battery enables hot-swapping, allowing users to replace power packs without powering down the tablet during extended shifts.
Intel Core Ultra Series 3 platform enables on-device AI processing
Built as a TOUGHBOOK AI PC, the G3 runs Windows 11 Pro on Intel's latest Core Ultra Series 3 platform with dual-channel RAM on 32GB and 64GB configurations. Copilot+ capabilities allow the device to collect, store and analyse mission-critical data at the network edge without continuous cloud connectivity, a requirement for field operations in areas with limited or no network access.
Compact 10.1-inch form factor targets vehicle and warehouse deployment
The device's lightweight, modular design is intended for use as a handheld tablet, a vehicle-docked unit in emergency service vehicles, or mounted on forklift trucks for warehouse logistics workflows. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, with optional 4G or optional standalone 5G, aimed at defence and remote field applications requiring low-latency, high-speed communications.
Ruggedisation testing targets IP66 and MIL-STD-810H compliance
Panasonic states the G3 is currently certified to IP65 dust and water ingress standards, with IP66 certification results expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. The tablet will undergo third-party vibration testing to MIL-STD-810H specifications in 2026, and is rated to survive drops of 180cm and operate across a temperature range of -29°C to 63°C.
Firmware-based security validates hardware before OS boot
As a Windows 11 Secured-core PC, the G3 incorporates identity-first authentication. Devices configured with the optional TOUGHBOOK Guard feature prior to manufacturing continuously validate hardware configuration against an approved baseline, ensuring only authorised components activate before the operating system loads.
