New York – October 12, 2026 -- New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe) has appointed Meghan Delaney, DO, MPH, as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 4, 2027, ending Christopher D. Hillyer's 17-year tenure atop the nonprofit blood and life sciences group.
The Board of Trustees selected Delaney following an extensive national search. Hillyer, who has led NYBCe since 2009, will become Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees. He will work with Delaney on the transition and continue to provide strategic guidance to the Board and leadership.
Hillyer built NYBCe into a life sciences enterprise serving 16 states and more than 550 hospitals
Under Hillyer, NYBCe grew from a regional blood center and research institution into an internationally recognized life sciences enterprise. It expanded the work of its Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI) and advanced capabilities in genomics, cellular therapies and biomanufacturing.
Milestones during his tenure include:
- FDA approval of HemaCord, the first FDA-licensed hematopoietic progenitor cell therapy product;
- The establishment of Comprehensive Cell Solutions;
- The founding of NYBC Ventures, a $50 million life sciences investment fund;
- The opening of the Rye Master Campus, which consolidates blood operations, research and cell therapy manufacturing in one location.

She is also Professor of Pathology and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB).
Marc Kramer, Chairman of NYBCe's Board of Trustees, said Delaney's clinical, scientific and executive experience positions her to guide the organization's future. Delaney said she intends to build on NYBCe's record in scientific excellence and innovation, citing its role in patient care, public health and the future of blood and cellular therapies.
