Nscale Names Ex-OpenAI Executive Fidji Simo to Board

London – September 16, 2026 -- Nscale, a full-stack AI cloud platform, has appointed Fidji Simo, former CEO of AGI Deployment at OpenAI, to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Simo brings two decades of consumer-tech scaling experience to Nscale's board

Simo most recently led business and product teams at OpenAI responsible for delivering the company's research to end users, and continues to advise the firm. Before OpenAI, she served as CEO and Chair of Instacart, guiding the company to profitability and through its 2023 public listing. She previously spent a decade at Meta, where she headed the Facebook App overseeing News Feed, Video, Groups, Marketplace and Ads, and earlier led mobile advertising products. She began her career at eBay and currently sits on Shopify's board of directors.

Nscale founder cites need for operating depth as company scales infrastructure

"Fidji is one of the most accomplished product leaders in tech, having built products used by billions of people around the world," said Josh Payne, Founder and CEO of Nscale. He said the board has been built deliberately for the experience of scaling platforms globally, combined with independence and financial rigor.

Simo says infrastructure integration, not compute alone, will decide market winners

Simo said access to compute determines how fast companies turn AI breakthroughs into products used by millions, but argued the next generation of AI infrastructure will be won by firms that integrate the full stack -- from physical infrastructure to usable software -- and simplify that complexity for customers.

Appointment follows additions of Sandberg, Decker and Clegg earlier this year

Simo's appointment comes after Nscale added Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker and Nick Clegg to its board earlier in 2026. Nscale, headquartered in London and founded in 2024, designs, builds and operates AI data centres and delivers GPU cloud services to AI labs and enterprises, with campuses under development in Norway and the United States.
