San Carlos, Calif. – October 12, 2026 -- Noah Medical has completed 5,000 procedures with its Galaxy System in the United States, roughly two years after the platform's first U.S. case in early 2023.
Dr. Abhinav Agrawal of Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY, performed the milestone procedure. The company describes the Galaxy System as an image-integrated robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform for early lung cancer detection.
Published data show 100% navigation success to small peripheral lesions
Results published by Saghaie et al. in 2024 reported 100% successful navigation to small lesions in the lung periphery and 100% tool-in-lesion accuracy. Diagnostic yield ranged from 89.5% under a strict definition to 94.7% under an intermediate definition.
Galaxy System combines tomosynthesis, augmented fluoroscopy and a single-use scope
The system integrates proprietary tomosynthesis (TiLT+ Technology) with augmented fluoroscopy. It also uses a disposable single-use bronchoscope with continuous vision. Its compact design is built to fit into any bronchoscopy suite, according to the company.
Deployment traces back to Sydney trial and Chicago debut
The platform's first-in-human trial took place at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia. The first U.S. procedure was performed at the University of Chicago Medicine in early 2023. Noah Medical says the system has since seen swift deployment and acceptance among healthcare providers.
The Galaxy System is the company's first commercial robotic system. Dr. Agrawal said it has transformed his center's approach to lung biopsies. Founder and CEO Jian Zhang, PhD, tied the 5,000-case mark to earlier lung cancer diagnosis and changes in clinical workflows.
