Amsterdam – September 11, 2026 -- NetActuate today launched the Media Substrate, a managed transport layer that runs redundant paths for contribution-grade live video across more than 45 global locations, available immediately in the company's Customer Portal ahead of IBC 2026.

Broadcasters send one stream while NetActuate manages dual paths beneath it

The service lets broadcasters send a single stream and receive a single stream, while NetActuate runs diverse paths across its network, merges them at egress, and measures latency and continuity on every hop. In a blackout test cited by the company, one path was taken fully dark and the merged output lost no data.

Network carries eleven existing protocols without requiring broadcaster changes

The substrate supports eleven protocols unchanged, including SRT, RIST, UDP, MPTS, MoQ, ST 2022-7, SMPTE ST 2110, RTMP, WebRTC, WHIP and WHEP, with capacity to add more. Protection is built into the network layer rather than the protocol, meaning performance is consistent regardless of which transport a broadcaster uses.

NetActuate publishes route-specific latency figures instead of a single network average

Because latency varies by route, the company reports a real, measured figure for each path in the portal rather than a blended network-wide number. Each path is measured end to end across NetActuate's own infrastructure, with the customer's last-mile connection reported separately.

Two tiers split self-service scale from dedicated, isolated deployments

Managed Media Substrate runs on NetActuate's existing footprint for immediate turn-up without new builds. Custom Media Substrate offers a dedicated, isolated footprint with broadcaster control over geographic reach, whether worldwide, North America only, or a named set of countries.

Two adjacent services target the US C-band transition and QUIC-based delivery

The C-Band Transition Acceleration service gives US broadcasters a terrestrial alternative to satellite ahead of the mandated upper C-band auction. The MoQ Relay is a separate managed Media over QUIC delivery network that can operate independently of the substrate. All three will be demonstrated at IBC 2026.
