CLEVELAND – October 27, 2026 -- Metropolitan at The 9 has completed the redesign of all 156 guestrooms and suites in a renovation spanning more than 100,000 square feet, with remaining work due by November 5, 2026.
Renovation covers rooms, corridors, lobby and Ledger Bar
The scope includes 10 guestroom corridors, the main lobby, elevator lobbies and cabs, and Ledger Bar. Lighter finishes, custom furnishings and Cleveland-focused artwork replace the previous look, while signature design elements stay in place.
Engineered hardwood replaces carpet in every guestroom
Rooms also get new area rugs, mattresses and soft seating. Custom desks, nightstands and minibars combine light wood finishes with white quartz countertops with gold veining. Wood slat wall treatments, chevron tile at the minibars and oversized mirrors complete the rooms.
The original headboards, inspired by the window detailing on the building's exterior, remain.
Project volumes: 300 artworks, 147 sofas and loveseats, 2,500 yards of fabric
The project includes more than 300 pieces of new art and approximately 2,500 yards of fabric. Guestrooms receive 147 custom sofas and loveseats, 156 desks, 156 minibars and 264 nightstands.
Lobby gets single welcome desk; Ledger Bar adds 45 feet of millwork
Arrivals now center on a single welcome desk and a stone feature wall with geometric wood detailing. Fluted wood paneling, refreshed upholstery and new rugs complete the lobby. Elevator cabs have new flooring, faux stone panels, wood slats and mirrors. Ledger Bar has a custom bar and backbar, including 45 linear feet of new bar millwork, plus updated seating.
Russ Mengle, Vice President of Geis Hospitality Group, said guests should "feel the difference" from their first welcome through settling into their room.
Local suppliers fabricate millwork, stone and artwork
Burton Station Fixture Company and National Design Mart custom fabricated millwork for the guestrooms, lobby and Ledger Bar. Mont Granite supplied stone for the lobby welcome desk and wall. Big Picture Cleveland handled custom artwork, framing and installation, and local upholsterers worked on lobby benches and leather column wraps. Guestroom soft seating was made in Valdese, North Carolina.
