Washington – September 30, 2026 -- MedStar Health, Georgetown University and The Coalition hosted the first Business Local Impact Connection Day — Construction Edition at Georgetown University's Capitol Campus, aiming to link local D.C.-area businesses with prime contractors in the construction sector.
DCAP institutions have channeled $1.5 billion into D.C.-based businesses since 2017
The event is part of the DC Community Anchor Partnership (DCAP), a program run by The Coalition that has grown from four founding anchor institutions in 2017 to 17 today. Cumulative spending by DCAP members with D.C.-based businesses has surpassed $1.5 billion over that period.
Construction-focused session targets subcontracting opportunities
The debut construction-specific edition brought together MedStar Health, Georgetown University and existing and prospective partners to discuss subcontracting needs and explore future construction partnerships through networking sessions and guided conversations.
Shermaine Pollard, MedStar Health's director of Business Local Impact, said the event was designed to bring local businesses and prime contractors together to identify where they might collaborate. Jami J. Rodgers, Georgetown University's Chief Procurement Officer and Associate Vice President for Financial Operations, said the university is asking operational partners to ensure that spending, subcontracts and facility development leave a positive impact on Washington, D.C.

MedStar Health's Business Local Impact Portal gives associates a channel to learn about local business capabilities, part of the health system's broader effort to support economic activity across the Maryland and Washington, D.C. region.
Steve Glaude, President and CEO of The Coalition, said the Vendor Connection Day model — now extended to construction — connects private, nonprofit and public partners around shared economic goals.
