Hsinchu – October 07, 2026 -- MediaTek's new T930 modem delivers more than 70% higher uplink throughput and over 40% higher downlink throughput for fixed wireless access networks, the chipmaker announced ahead of Network X 2026 in Vienna.
MediaTek pairs T930 with Filogic 8800 to cut operator network costs
The platform combines the MediaTek T930 modem with the Filogic 8800 chip, integrating 5G-Advanced connectivity, Edge AI processing and Wi-Fi 8 technology. The companies state the solution maximizes channel utilization while allowing telecom operators to control network upgrade costs as they expand subscriber capacity.
8Rx 3CC configuration extends coverage and lifts downlink performance by over 40%
T930 features the world's first 8Rx 3CC, 3Tx 5L, HPUE PC1 33 dBm configuration alongside Wi-Fi 8 support. According to MediaTek, the 8Rx 3CC setup improves network downlink throughput by more than 40% while extending coverage range. The combination of HPUE PC1 and 3Tx 5L raises transmission power by 5 dB, driving the uplink throughput increase above 70%.
AI-AQM technology cuts cloud gaming latency by up to 10x
MediaTek's AI-AQM (Active Queue Management) moves intelligent queue management to the CPE edge. The company says validated testing shows up to a 10x improvement in network latency for cloud gaming users, enabling operators to serve latency-sensitive applications without major core network changes.
Platform shortlisted for Network X Awards 2026 'Best FWA Solution'
The FWA platform has been shortlisted for the Network X Awards 2026 "Best FWA Solution of the Year." Evan Su, Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek, said stronger uplink and downlink capabilities combined with intelligent traffic management help operators increase subscriber capacity and network efficiency while controlling upgrade costs.
MediaTek and subsidiary Airoha Technology are jointly exhibiting the technology at Booth K35 during Network X 2026, running October 13-15 at Messe Wien in Vienna, Austria.
