German Federal Council Approves Infrastructure Future Act to Accelerate Road Construction Planning
SHERIDAN, WYOMING -- July 10, 2026 -- Germany's Bundesrat has approved the Infrastructure Future Act, clearing the way for faster planning and construction approvals on federal highways. The legislation, already passed by the Bundestag, establishes priority status for critical transport projects and strengthens authority for road construction agencies. Felix Pakleppa, Managing Director of the Central Association of the German Construction Industry (ZDB), described the approval as a breakthrough for infrastructure modernization after recent bridge failures exposed the cost of delayed maintenance.
