Lightbeam Maps Enterprise SaaS Shift to Agentic AI PaaS by 2030

Global – October 21, 2026 -- Lightbeam AI expects enterprise software in healthcare, life sciences and other industries to be rewritten around agentic AI platforms over the next five years (2025-2030), according to a roadmap from a company executive.

Ambient listening is forecast to become an embedded EHR feature

The author calls 2024 the year of generative AI and large language models (LLMs), with ambient clinical intelligence in focus. Microsoft, a Lightbeam partner, embedded ChatGPT and Copilot in all Microsoft Office products, which raised AI expectations across healthcare. The author predicts ambient listening will move from a monetized point solution to an embedded feature of agentic AI-powered electronic health records (EHRs).

Lightbeam is building ambient listening into its care management solution. It will convert speech to text and summarize patient notes for care and case managers. The company gave no release details.

Roadmap runs from prescriptive actioning to autonomous AI

Lightbeam's framework has three stages. The first is prescriptive actioning, which uses machine learning, NLP, NLG and LLMs rather than descriptive and predictive analytics. The second is AI automation through agents built on curated LLMs or small language models (SLMs), automating process steps, workflows and eventually entire processes. The third is autonomous AI that decides and acts without human oversight.

Build-or-buy decisions on AI PaaS are expected to accelerate within 2-3 years

Enterprise SaaS vendors and healthcare organizations can build their own AI or buy or rent AI Platform-as-a-Service (AI PaaS) from major vendors to speed time-to-market. The author expects agentic AI PaaS offerings to cover:

  • Conversational agents for sales, marketing and customer service
  • Value-based care, population health and care management analytics
  • Personal AI assistants for senior executives
  • Process monitoring and exception management in manufacturing, supply chain, clinical trials and fraud, waste and abuse
  • Self-service coding for automation and agent creation
Core enterprise platforms face agentic rewrites

ERP, CRM, revenue cycle management, supply chain management, clinical trial management, R&D and governance, risk and compliance platforms are being or will be rewritten for agentic AI. The systems will first automate manual, repetitive, error-prone tasks and workflows. Over time they will reconfigure many job descriptions and responsibilities.
