Knowles Launches A-Series Attenuators Covering DC to 20 GHz

Itasca, Illinois – September 30, 2026 -- Knowles Corporation (NYSE:KN) has introduced its new ATT A-Series Attenuators, expanding its RF portfolio to position the company as a one-stop source for high-performance RF signal chain components.

New attenuators deliver DC-20 GHz coverage in a compact SMT package

The A-Series uses precision thin-film resistor technology on a ceramic substrate, measuring just 0.080" x 0.065" x 0.012" (2.03 x 1.65 x 0.30 mm). The product line offers standard attenuation values from 0 dB to 20 dB with a power handling rating up to 6.5 W CW at 100°C and an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

Design targets radar, satellite and defense electronics markets

Knowles said the components are suited for radar systems, electronically steered phased-array antennas, electronic support measures systems, transmit/receive modules, wireless infrastructure, satellite communications, and RF test and measurement applications. The parts carry an MSL 1 rating and ESD robustness, with 50-ohm matched RF inputs and outputs for integration into existing signal chains.

Pin compatibility eases upgrade path for existing designs

The A-Series offers pin compatibility with existing industry-standard chip attenuators, allowing engineers to upgrade performance and bandwidth with minimal PCB redesign. Knowles said this feature also strengthens supply chain resiliency for customers migrating from legacy components.

Executive cites cost and performance advantage over rivals

"Our new A-Series attenuator product family fills a critical market gap by delivering broadband performance across DC-20GHz, high power handling, and excellent attenuation accuracy in a compact SMT package," said Robert Wagner, Vice President of RF and Microwave Products at Knowles.

Knowles noted that custom attenuation values, power ratings, and specialized configurations are available through its design-to-spec, turnkey custom solutions program.
