KaVo Commits to ISO-Certified Sustainability Program with Clear Environmental Targets

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – July 21, 2025 – KaVo has strengthened its commitment to environmental responsibility by embedding a comprehensive sustainability program into its corporate strategy and achieving certification under the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management standard. The initiative underscores KaVo’s focus on operational sustainability, resource efficiency, and long-term environmental impact reduction.

ISO 14001 Certification Marks a Milestone in KaVo’s Environmental Journey

KaVo’s multi-stage environmental plan, integrated with its corporate policy and management systems, received certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015. This achievement reflects the company’s proactive approach to environmental management and positions it for further sustainability advancements.

“As an industrial company, we are also involved in climate change and therefore consider it our responsibility to contribute to preserving and protecting our natural environment. Supported by the entire KaVo team, we are entirely committed to pursuing this goal,” stated Klaus Reisenauer, Environmental Officer and Senior Director of Regulatory and Quality at KaVo.

“That’s why we opted to have our operations certified according to ISO standard 14001:2015. We were successful, which means that we’ve made our first major step towards achieving the aims of KaVo’s environmental policy. However, we need to make sure that environmental action is a constant consideration in everything we do at the company if we are to achieve our goals.”

Resource Efficiency Embedded in Daily Operations

KaVo applies strict environmental considerations to every business decision, promoting the careful and respectful use of resources across all departments. The company prioritizes reducing consumption of energy, water, and raw materials, while actively researching substitutes for hazardous substances.

Operational highlights include:

  • Exclusive use of green electricity at production sites in Biberach and Warthausen.
  • Regular audits tracking progress on energy efficiency and waste reduction goals.
  • Notable reductions in 2022, including a 20% decrease in gas consumption and a 16% cut in water usage compared to the previous year, despite workforce growth.

“We are on a very positive path when it comes to our increasingly efficient use of resources,” said Klaus Reisenauer. “In 2022, for instance, we were able to reduce our gas consumption by 20%, and water consumption by 16% compared to the previous year, despite a slight increase in the number of employees. But we know that our goals are ambitious. We are aware of our responsibility and take our goals seriously.”

Future-Focused Investments in Renewable Energy and Mobility

KaVo has outlined clear targets to further enhance its sustainability footprint:

  • Investing in renewable energy and photovoltaic systems to generate 15% of its electricity internally.
  • Reducing heating energy consumption by an additional 5% over the previous year.
  • Establishing a dedicated KaVo CO₂ database for critical assessment and reduction of emissions.
  • Transitioning its vehicle fleet to 100% electric within the next three years, with the first electric vehicles already deployed.

Driving Industry Standards in Environmental Responsibility

KaVo’s integrated approach to sustainability not only supports its corporate objectives but also aligns with growing industry expectations for responsible manufacturing practices. With ISO certification and measurable goals, the company is set to strengthen its market position while contributing to global environmental efforts.
