Sceye's ST1 HAPS Completes 30,000km Round Trip to Japan for SoftBank

Moriarty, New Mexico – September 15, 2026 -- Sceye's stratospheric platform ST1 has completed a nearly 30,000-kilometer round trip between New Mexico and Japan, re-entering continental U.S. airspace on September 4, 2026, and reaching the company's Moriarty headquarters the following day for final testing and controlled descent.

ST1 logged over seven days in Japanese controlled airspace during a month-long mission

The high-altitude platform station (HAPS), developed with SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434), marked Sceye's first flight into Asia and a key step toward commercial HAPS deployment. ST1 maintained a station-keeping radius of just 5 kilometers off the Japanese coast while operating continuously at 16.5 to 17 kilometers altitude.

ABB, BCG Report: DC Power to Anchor AI Data Center Architecture

Zurich – September 9, 2026 -- ABB and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) have released a joint report concluding that 800-volt direct current (VDC) distribution is emerging as the defining architecture for next-generation artificial intelligence infrastructure, as surging AI compute demand pushes conventional electrical systems past their practical limits.

AI data centers drive urgent shift toward DC power

The report, titled 'The Strategic Case for Hybrid AC/DC Power: Shaping the Transition to the Next Electrical Architecture,' identifies AI data centers as the most immediate driver of DC adoption. Rising power-density requirements from AI workloads are forcing operators to seek architectures that maximize compute capacity within constrained grid connections while improving energy efficiency.

Solve Networks Launches Global eSIM for Cross-Border IoT Fleets

Richardson, Texas – September 15, 2026 -- Solve Networks has launched a global eSIM connectivity service that lets enterprises manage IoT device fleets across more than 200 countries and territories through a single connectivity profile, eliminating the need for separate SIMs and carrier relationships in each market.

Global eSIM replaces fragmented multi-carrier setups for cross-border device fleets

The service targets organizations operating IoT devices across multiple countries, regions, or network operators, where connectivity previously required juggling separate SIMs and separate points of failure for each location. Solve Networks' global eSIM instead assigns one connectivity profile that moves with the device, spanning North and South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
