New Delhi – October 09, 2026 -- The India Mental Health Alliance (IMHA), a network of 400 organisations across 30 Indian states, is building a shared Knowledge Hub and has published a 11-author anthology to make lived experience a formal input into mental healthcare design and delivery.
IMHA reached 3,380 professionals in 135+ cities over two years
Over the past two years, the alliance engaged 3,380 mental health professionals across more than 135 cities. It mobilised member organisations to build collective capacity, share knowledge and embed lived experience expertise in care design and practice.
The announcement coincides with World Mental Health Day on October 10.
Knowledge Hub will pool clinical, lived and academic evidence
IMHA is developing a co-curated Knowledge Hub that collects practitioner insights, field lessons, clinical and lived experience expertise, and academic research grounded in local Indian contexts.
Dr. Kavita Arora, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and founding cohort member of IMHA, said combining clinical expertise with lived and practice-based knowledge is essential to a more equitable, contextual and responsive mental health ecosystem.
Anthology of 11 women leaders documents severe mental health conditions
IMHA presents what it describes as India's first anthology of lived-experience narratives by women leaders, Homecoming: Mental Health Journeys of Resilience, Healing & Wholeness. Eleven women leaders from across sectors contribute first-person accounts of living in urban India with depression, complex PTSD, suicide loss, intergenerational trauma, anxiety and OCD.
The accounts are intended to prompt families, communities, workplaces and healthcare professionals to examine how they understand and respond to mental health conditions. A short film accompanies the book.
