The IMA Group to Unveil "Cognitive Manufacturing" Technologies at Interpack 2026

SHERIDAN, WYOMING - May 10, 2026 - At Interpack 2026, the IMA Group will present a comprehensive suite of new manufacturing and packaging technologies with 38 machines operating live across a 4,500 square meter exhibition space. The booth is structured around the concept of "Cognitive Manufacturing," which envisions production environments featuring autonomous robotics and artificial intelligence integration designed to improve the interaction between systems, services, and personnel. Visitors will experience distinct areas including "The Loop" for future automation capabilities, "IMA Service" for advanced analytics, and "IMA OPENLab" dedicated to material research and sustainable packaging. Ultimately, the event serves as the launch platform for numerous machines serving the pharmaceutical, medical device assembly, and consumer goods sectors.

Advancements in Pharmaceutical Processing

IMA PHARMA, which provides complete processing and packaging lines, will introduce several new systems including the DOMINA tablet press that utilizes a modular architecture designed to compress various powders. The system features enhanced automation to maximize throughput and minimize operational errors. Additionally, the IMA Thomas ACCELA CTC is a continuous coating machine capable of processing between 100 and 1,000 kg/h of large tablet batches. The equipment features an integrated cooling chamber, eliminating the need for external cooling systems and reducing the overall footprint while utilizing a new automated loading and unloading mechanism to minimize material waste.

IMA Life will display the DETECTA high-speed inspection unit integrated with the INJECTA 36 fill-finish line for pre-filled syringes, ensuring synchronized plunger presence detection and rejection without impacting overall line speed. The TILE-X line, intended for high-value biopharmaceuticals and Cell & Gene therapies, will also be presented using magnetic levitation technology for frictionless, zero-risk handling of Ready-To-Use components. At the IsoTech Lab, the company will introduce the IMA VPHP BioIndicator, a new biological indicator based on Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores. Packaged in VPHP-permeable materials, the indicator supports 6-log sporicidal performance verification for isolator decontamination cycles.

IMA Safe's GIANT1 Series blister production line will feature a new blister-overturning module that mechanically interlocks blisters to reduce stacking height, enabling smaller cartons and optimizing logistics to reduce CO2eq emissions during transport. The high-speed GIANT5-A96 blister packaging machine, capable of 1,300 blisters and 500 cartons per minute, will be equipped with the new Sombrero feeding system. The machine will demonstrate the processing of mono-PET film and debut a patented robotic line-clearance technology that utilizes a single-camera unit for line inspection. Furthermore, IMA Sarong will feature the SAAS2 vertical FFS machine for suppositories, a compact unit producing up to 6,000 packs per hour as part of a broader series supporting outputs up to 30,000 units per hour.

Medical Device Assembly Innovations

IMA MED-TECH will highlight solutions for medical device handling and assembly, including the X-PEN LAB semi-automatic press-in machine for clinical trials and small-batch production of pens and autoinjectors. This system features monitored force-distance measurement and manual loading. The broader X-PEN platform utilizes a Linear Magnetic Transport System to achieve production speeds of 40 to 160 ppm. Additionally, the new ASSEMBLA platform serves as an engineer-to-order system for the assembly of injectables, inhalers, and diagnostic devices, supporting configurations from 20 to 500 ppm.

New Equipment for the Consumer Food Sector

IMA FOOD will present several processing and packaging systems across diverse food categories, including the C28-E Plus compact machine utilizing knot technology to produce up to 250 ecological tea bags per minute. IMA Petroncini will showcase the TTR EVO coffee roaster, which incorporates a hot-air recirculation system for thermal efficiency and integrated sensors for precise parameter monitoring and data-driven process optimization. The IMA Ilapak Vegatronic 6400 DZ is a continuous-motion VFFS machine designed for large Doy-Zipper bags, reaching speeds of 120 ppm while supporting various pack styles. Complementing this is the IMA Ilapak Vegatronic 6400 ML, featuring an open-frame hygienic design for fresh produce, IQF, and dairy applications.

A complete confectionery packaging line will be demonstrated, combining robotic picking, flow-wrapping, and secondary pouch filling utilizing a multi-head weigher, with case packing handled by the compact IMA Mespic AIO G Series. IMA Eurosicma will launch the R-201 ND flow wrapper for instant noodles, operating at speeds up to 200 cakes per minute and featuring an integrated sachet feeder. IMA GIMA's SWM600 high-speed wrapping machine will process stick packs of gum and pressed candies at 4 to 16 pieces per stick. IMA Corazza will present the FD10-AD10 line for paste bouillon cubes, integrating accurate portioning and wrap-around cartoning into one seamless process.

IMA Benhil introduces the Multipack 5600, a dosing and wrapping machine for butter and margarine that uses servo-controlled dosing and lifting cells to achieve 140 packs per minute. Rounding out the food sector offerings, IMA Erca will present the EFS-X compact cup filler. This machine is designed for liquid and pasty products in pre-made plastic or paper cups, reaching capacities of 12,600 cups per hour.

Personal Care and E-Commerce Packaging

A dedicated Personal Care area will feature technologies for the beauty and hygiene markets, where IMA BFB will debut the PRIMEWRAP overwrapping machine capable of 70 cycles per minute with different transversal sealing options. Omas Tecnosistemi will feature the G-BLOK intermittent filling and closing platform, which utilizes a puck-based configuration enabling the integration of an automatic retorquer. The new IMA E-COMMERCE division will showcase modular auto-baggers and box-forming machines, including the E-CO FLEX LIDDING system. This machine automatically applies lids to various cases, managing up to 10 box formats randomly by detecting product height and reducing the box height by up to 400 mm without pre-scored packaging.
