Global – October 27, 2026 -- ST Engineering iDirect expects its new Foresight AI platform to cut network operations center (NOC) workload by up to 60% and shrink mean time to repair from hours to minutes, according to the company's input to the World Teleport Association (WTA) report "The AI-Driven Teleport."
Foresight KPI gains are projections, not measured results
Shanthakumar Ramakrishnan, Sr. Director of Engineering, said the figures draw on industry benchmarks, operational analysis and Foresight's developing capabilities. The company has run AI proofs-of-concept in network operations, service assurance and service orchestration. It reports the most measurable value in predictive maintenance, anomaly detection and closed-loop automation.
iDirect also expects better SLA compliance through earlier detection of service-impacting events. It says AI-driven capacity optimization should raise utilization of existing capacity, letting operators defer infrastructure spending.
Foresight correlates GEO, MEO and LEO data in one operational layer
The platform correlates network telemetry, service metrics, business data and SLA requirements across orbits. iDirect says this moves operators from platform-centric management toward orbit-agnostic, policy-driven operations, covering handovers, varying latency and fluctuating traffic.
Hybrid model pairs commercial AI with purpose-built SATCOM models
Foresight uses commercial AI for conversational and generative functions, while purpose-built machine learning models diagnose and predict satellite network behavior. Foresight Advisor, the platform's AI assistant, provides the natural-language interface. iDirect says commercial platforms offer faster deployment and lower upfront cost but lack satellite-specific knowledge. Custom systems give more control over data and security but need heavier investment and lifecycle management.
iDirect expects the hybrid approach to become the preferred operator model as architectures grow more complex. It says predictive analytics, AI-powered service assurance, orchestration and security analytics are drawing the most customer interest. It expects operational intelligence to be among the fastest-growing AI application areas over the next several years.
