IA Interior Architects Rebrands as IA, Widens Practice Areas

San Francisco – October 20, 2026 -- IA Interior Architects, a global interior design and architecture firm founded 42 years ago, is dropping "Interior Architects" from its name and will operate solely as IA as it expands services beyond corporate interiors.

The rename comes with a new logo and a rebuilt website, IA.design. The firm says the changes reflect a broader practice that has diversified over the past decade.

IA has built out hospitality, retail and four commercial sectors over ten years

Over the past decade, the firm invested in its hospitality and retail practices. It also widened its commercial market sectors to include aviation, healthcare and advanced manufacturing. IA reports that all three commercial sectors have seen strong organic growth, though the source gives no revenue or headcount figures.

Talent hires in base-building architecture, sustainability and strategy support the shift

The firm paired its sector expansion with hiring in disciplines including base-building architecture, sustainability and strategy. Base-building work moves IA beyond interior fit-outs into core building design.

Co-CEOs call the rebrand the result of multiple years of work

IA co-CEOs and Presidents Tom Powers and David Bourke said the rebrand took several years to develop and is meant to push the brand forward while communicating the firm's expanded services.

IA remains employee-owned through its ESOP

The firm confirmed it will stay employee-owned through its employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). The new website will continue to carry research and project showcases.
