HEIDELBERG Completes manroland Sheetfed Integration and Agrees to Fully Acquire POLAR

SHERIDAN, WYOMING -- July 07, 2026 -- Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) has closed the transaction integrating the lifecycle business and global sales and service units of the manroland sheetfed group into its operations. The company also signed a separate agreement this week to take over full production of POLAR cutting and finishing machines and systems, folding POLAR's development work into the HEIDELBERG organization as well. Both moves extend a strategy HEIDELBERG has pursued for several years to consolidate technology, branding, sales and service under one roof. The company says the combined steps strengthen its position as a systems integrator in the packaging and label segment.

manroland Sheetfed Integration Proceeds on Schedule

HEIDELBERG confirmed that the transaction covering manroland sheetfed's lifecycle business, along with its worldwide sales and service entities, was completed in early July. Company leadership described the integration as proceeding according to plan. The deal brings manroland sheetfed's aftermarket and customer-facing operations directly into the HEIDELBERG group structure. No additional financial or operational terms of the transaction were disclosed.

Full POLAR Takeover Follows Years of Partial Integration

HEIDELBERG had already folded POLAR's technology, brand, sales and service functions into its business before this agreement. The newly signed deal adds production and development to that list, completing the consolidation. Company chief executive Jürgen Otto framed the move as a logical next step in an ongoing effort to build out HEIDELBERG's value chain and deliver added value to customers. He also linked the combined manroland and POLAR integration directly to HEIDELBERG's leading position in the printing and packaging sector.

POLAR Machines Stay Central to Finishing Workflows

POLAR's product range covers loading, jogging, cutting, punching, unloading and banding functions, all aimed at automating and connecting high-volume finishing operations. HEIDELBERG says the full takeover will speed up development of new solutions in automation and workflow integration specifically. Existing customers will keep the same sales, service and support processes they use today. Two POLAR systems highlighted in the announcement, the LabelSystem DC-12 RAPID and the AirGo Jog, illustrate the automated label-cutting and sheet-alignment work the product line performs.

Production Site Change Drives a Phased Rollout

The current POLAR production site in Hofheim will not remain available long term because of a planned sale of the property. HEIDELBERG plans to use the time before that change takes effect to prepare POLAR's move into its broader production network. Rather than shifting everything at once, the company is treating the transition as a staged process built around that site timeline.

HEIDELBERG Frames the Deal as a Signal of Market Stability

Company leadership pointed to reliability and performance as the constant priorities for customers throughout the changeover. Otto said the full POLAR acquisition sends a clear message to the market that HEIDELBERG stands for stability, quality and long-term partnership, particularly at a time of noticeable shifts across the industry. The relationship between HEIDELBERG and POLAR dates back to the 1950s and has expanded steadily over the decades. With development, production, sales and service now under one structure, HEIDELBERG describes the result as a single, coordinated offering spanning its full value chain, aimed at productivity, efficiency and long-term reliability for customers worldwide. Financial terms of the POLAR agreement were not disclosed.

Deal Fits a Broader Systems-Integrator Strategy

HEIDELBERG describes itself as a technology company with more than 175 years in mechanical engineering, built around packaging and digital print, software, and lifecycle service and consumables. The company also points to newer activity in security, energy, charging infrastructure and industrial systems as areas where it is applying its manufacturing and systems expertise. HEIDELBERG operates in roughly 170 countries, employs about 9,500 people, and runs production sites in Europe, China and the United States. The manroland and POLAR integrations extend that international manufacturing and service footprint rather than standing apart from it.
