September 03, 2026 – Summerlin, Nev. -- FaceTec, Inc. has released its UR® Codes August 2026 Update, detailing three law-enforcement and public-safety organizations now running the biometric identity credential in live deployments across the United States.
Albany County deputies gain instant cross-jurisdictional ID verification
The Albany County Sheriff's Office has upgraded standard Deputy ID cards with UR Codes, allowing partner agencies or citizens to instantly verify a deputy's identity and blocking use of lost, stolen or counterfeit credentials.
Saratoga County enables offline verification for retired officers carrying concealed firearms
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office uses UR Codes to let out-of-state officers biometrically confirm a retiree's active qualification under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA/HR218), without requiring a network connection or centralized database check.
Project Lifesaver equips at-risk individuals across 1,700 jurisdictions with scannable ID labels
Project Lifesaver International, operating in more than 1,700 jurisdictions across the US and Canada, has added UR Code labels to locator bracelets, clothing and footwear worn by individuals with autism, dementia or other cognitive conditions. Any community member can scan the code, run a live biometric match to identify a non-verbal or disoriented individual, and reach the first responders assigned to reunite them with caretakers.
UR Codes embed cryptographically signed biometric data inside a standard QR format
Each UR Code binds an individual's verified identity attributes to their 3D biometric face vector, using a digital signature that guarantees data authenticity without a centralized database check. An integrated face-match interface compares a live camera scan against the biometric vector stored inside the code to prevent credential sharing or impersonation. The system runs on Android, iOS and desktop hardware, online or offline, with scans that can be tokenized and time-stamped for audit records.

FaceTec's Chief Identity Technology Strategist Jay Meier will deliver a keynote on UR Code architecture, while Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr. and Project Lifesaver founder Gene Saunders will join a panel moderated by FaceTec VP of Government Relations Owen McShane to discuss law enforcement adoption of the credential.
